CAN YOU TRESPASS THE “TRESPASS BAN”?
03/26/2010Being a place of addiction, there is something about casinos that brings out the worst in some people. The presence of large sums of money has lured and encouraged people to cheat. Many people have been to the casino hoping they could “beat the system.”
People could be awarded a casino trespass ban for a number of reasons. The most common out of all the reasons to be banned from is getting caught cheating. However, various other reasons may be the cause of one being in such a situation. What happens if you get banned, but still manage to sneak in and gamble? Can you still keep the money that you won?
The answer appears is no. The casino keeps your winnings if you get caught violating a trespass ban. This is the rule as he Supreme Court has decided on such a case as such. In the year 1996, a man named Troy Blackford hit and damaged a slot machine at a casino by the name of Prairie Meadows Racetrack in Altoona in Iowa. He was issued a permanent trespass ban because of this. But he kept returning and in 2006, he won a jackpot of $9,387. The casino then realized that he was banned and withheld the money. The case was taken to the court. Eventually, the Supreme Court ruled that the casino had the right to withhold his money.
So, if you enjoy gambling, be sure that you are following the rules. In case you get banned, you will not be able to get in and even if you succeed do that you would never win big. If you get a ban and sneak in, you may spend a lot of money but will have no chance of recovering it because the house won’t pay you. Lottery games only will be the remaining ones that you can pursue to get a taste of your luck.
